Welcome to Mazara, a sublime and relaxing Italian dining experience in the heart of Clayton. We are located at 7923 Forsyth Boulevard, between Central and Meramec.
Mazara is proud to
welcome back Kevin Lundry as Executive Chef. Kevin has worked in
small family owned Italian restaurants since he was fourteen years
old. At just sixteen his uncle recognized his skill for cooking and
asked him to become part of the culinary team in his riverfront
restaurant in St.Charles, MO. It was there that Kevin learned using
fresh ingredients and unrefined techniques paralleled taste and art.
With a
thirst for learning Kevin sought outside the family business to
diversify his culinary career. In March of 2009 Kevin began the job
of Sous Chef here at Mazara, but had a desire for more. It was time
once again for Kevin to put his talent to the test. He enrolled at Le
Cordon Bleu Institute of Chicago, choosing Chicago for school on
behalf of its outstanding culinary reputation and over 5,000
restaurants. After months of studying and staging in Chicago’s
distinguished restaurant scene and with the highest GPA in his class
Kevin’s gift for cooking was revealed in the truest sense.
Perhaps the
most influential pulse of Kevin’s college career came while
finishing his degree in Southern Italy. Cooking, studying and working
along the Amalfi coast as well as Sicily. Mentored along the way by
world renowned Master Chef, Biagio Longo, who owns many restaurants
across Europe as well as his own cooking school in Naples. Kevin is
dedicating his menu makeover to bringing Saint Louis food enthusiasts
a taste of classic Southern Italian cuisine with his initial change
being the incorporation of fresh pasta into the menu.
All the focus
of the fresh summer menu will be on the Southern Italian experience
and expertise of Kevin Lundry and his Sicilian roots. Look forward to
Chef Kevin’s handcrafted specials.
